The Madras High Court on Thursday directed Tamil Nadu police to register a case against State Forest Minister K. Ponmudy for his recent controversial remarks that sparked public outrage and led to his removal from a key party position.
Justice N Anand Venkatesh, presiding over the case, issued a stern warning to authorities, making it clear that failure to act would result in the court initiating suo motu contempt proceedings against the police.
Justice N Anand Venkatesh, who gave the warning to the police said, as per PTI, "Now the court has taken cognizance of the matter. Even if you do not have a complaint, register a case and proceed with the investigation." He then adjourned the case for further hearings to April 23.
