VHP stages protests against ‘attacks’ on Hindus in West Bengal

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has demanded imposition of President’s rule in West Bengal accusing the Mamata Benerjee government of failing to protect the lives of Hindus.

The organisation has conducted a protest march in Dilsukhnagar and condemned the violence targeting Hindus in West Bengal. The protesters burnt effigies of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and jihadis. Speaking on the occasion, VHP National spokesperson R. Shashidhar said that the violence in West Bengal, allegedly sparked following the passing of the Waqf Act, had left thousands of Hindu families homeless and vulnerable. He accused the State government of appeasing Muslims and failing to protect Hindus.

“The situation in Bengal is very worrying, with Hindus being persecuted and anti-national forces given free rein. The Central government must take over the administration and ensure severe punishment for those involved in the riots,” he added. The demands include NIA investigation into the violence, maintenance of law and order to be handed over to Central security forces and identification and deportation of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas.
