New Delhi: Virat Kohli made history and secured his place in the record books during the Champions Trophy match between India and Pakistan in Dubai. He reached a significant milestone when he scored his 15th run in the match, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record that had stood for 19 years. India is chasing a target of 242, and Virat’s contribution will be key to their success. He joined Shubman Gill at the crease after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal in the 5th over. The Indian captain had scored 20 runs off 15 balls before departing.

Virat Kohli made history by becoming the quickest batsman ever to reach 14,000 runs in One-Day Internationals. The right-handed batter achieved this feat in just 287 innings, surpassing the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar had crossed the 14,000-run mark in 350 innings back in 2006. With this achievement, Virat has overtaken the Master Blaster’s record, 19 years after it was set.

Virat Kohli has also become the third player to reach 14,000 runs in ODIs. Kumar Sangakkara was the second to join this prestigious group during the 2015 ODI World Cup, before retiring from the format after the tournament.
