Dalit organisations give a call for bandh in Hubballi-Dharwad tomorrow

Shops and business establishments remained closed in Mandya on Tuesday in response to a bandh called by the Federation of Dalit, Farmers, Minorities, Labourers and Backward Classes to protest Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks against B.R. Ambedkar.

However, schools and colleges, besides government offices and banks functioned normally. Though the bandh was largely peaceful, altercations took place between the police and the protesters at several places in the town.

A few shops and business establishments that opened their shops in the morning were asked to down their shutters by activists, who went around the town as part of a bike rally.
