Woman poisons differently abled, bedridden daughter to death in Naupada

The death of a 27-year-old event management professional in a car accident in West Bengal’s Paschim Bardhaman district early on Monday (February 24, 2025) raised fresh questions about safety of women in the State, with passengers accompanying the deceased alleging that the vehicle was chased by men in another vehicle.

The West Bengal police, however, refuted allegations of harassment, and instead claimed the vehicle of the deceased woman was chasing the other vehicle.

The victim, Sutandra Chattopadhyay, who hails from Chandannagar in Hooghly district, was on her way to Gaya. The driver and a fellow passenger of the deceased woman’s car, however, said a group of about five men in the other vehicle were making indecent comments and remarks directed at her.
