World No Tobacco Day observed in Anantapur

Observing World No Tobacco Day, the Government Medical College here organised an awareness campaign on Saturday (May 31). The Departments of Respiratory Medicine and Community Medicine, in coordination with the NSS unit, launched the event.

Addressing the participants after taking out a public rally through the arterial junctions of the city, College Principal S. Manikya Rao said tobacco consumption remained a major health risk, leading to cancers and other terminal illnesses. He called on medical students to abstain from tobacco use and spread the message against tobacco consumption.

K.S. Venkateswara Rao, Superintendent of Government General Hospital, highlighted the need to lead a life away from tobacco products to protect personal health and maintain family well-being.
