'Communal Violence, Terrorism': US Issues New Travel Advisory For Bangladesh Amid Political Unrest
A strict travel advisory was issued by the United States, flagging concerns of terrorism and civil unrest in Bangladesh, which saw a deadly coup and change in regime last year. The advisory issued by the State Department has advised US citizens to reconsider traveling to Bangladesh due to civil unrest, crime, and terrorism.
Currently, Bangladesh has a 'level 3' tag urging US citizens to reconsider their travel, while some regions, such as the Khagrachari, Rangamati, and Bandarban Hill Tracts districts, come with a level 4 "Do Not Travel" warning.
“Since summer 2024, civil unrest and violent clashes have largely subsided with the formation of the Interim Government. Occasional protests continue with potential for violent clashes," the advisory read.
